I'm back with another book review! This time I'm writing a review on Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and I'm definitely giving this book a 4.5/5! It was somehow relatable and it is one of those books that you finish with a satisfying 'awwww'!
There's so much to say about this book! First off, I would like to say that I love love love how Stephanie Perkins writes. Her books are easy to read and it simply left me with wanting more. The storyline was perfect, she included a beautiful and calm setting that really set up the mood of the story.
The characters are also superb! Flirty Etienne and slightly awkward Anna. I could totally relate to Anna's awkward personality and how she made love such a big deal. Perkins managed to tell the tale from a perspective of a teenager, this is probably one of the main reasons I love her writing style. In this book, Anna was a girl who fell in love for the first time. Perkins showed just exactly how it feels to be a teenager. She made several stuff sound like it is the end of the world and that's exactly how us (especially me), as a teenager feels, so its somehow relatable.
[STOP RIGHT HERE: SPOILER ALERT - ONE PARAGRAPH AHEAD]
But on a different aspect, I can see why people disagree about some aspects of the book. I get why you might not like how flirty Etienne gets and how Anna brushes it off as if its nothing, however, I would like to share an opinion on that! Cheating happens for a reason and as one of my friend used to say, "Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down". This might sound like an irrelevant quote to most of you but it's like saying you have to fight first to settle things down. Stephanie Perkins managed to capture this all in a book. Etienne has a reason and he fought for what he felt was right for him, then settling it all with his past lover. I am NOT in any words saying cheating is alright, but i believe that everyone has a reason and a story behind it.
Anyway, I can't describe enough with words how cute this book is! You should get yourself a copy and tell me what you think!
